About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Revista Biológico Agropecuaria Tuxpan is a semi-annual scholarly peer-reviewed Open Access journal. The journal publishes original papers on Biological Agricultural Sciences focusing on Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics, Agronomy, Agribusiness, Terrestrial Biology and Marine Biology. Likewise, the journal publishes work advances, technical notes, book reviews, as well as bibliographic reviews and monographs. The journal is published by Agrícola Tuxpan Editorial since 2013.

Peer-review type

The journal adopted the double-blind peer-review process. The identity of the peer-reviewer and author are anonymized.

Peer Review Process

Submissions are initially assessed by the editor-in-chief. If the manuscripts don't meet the minimum requirements, outlined in the submission preparation checklist, they are rejected. In addition, the editor-in-chief might reject the papers whether they are out of scope or suitability for the journal policies.

Submissions that pass the initial screening process are later reviewed by the editor-in-chief. The editor-in-chief might ask the authors for corrections and supplementary files.

Afterwards, the editor-in-chief assigns two external peer-reviewers, experts on the topic, to evaluate the submission. The peer-review process might last several months. The journal has adopted a double-blind peer-review process in which the identity of the peer-reviewer and author is anonymized. Each review ends with a recommendation provided by the peer-reviewer. The peer-reviewer might recommend the editor-in-chief to publish the manuscript with no corrections at all. However, the peer-reviewer might recommend to reject the paper or publish it after major or minor corrections.

Lastly, the editor-in-chief takes into consideration the recommendations from peer-reviewers. The editor-in-chief might decide to send the paper to other peer-reviewer, accept or reject the paper. This decision is final and cannot be appealed.

Plagiarism detection and originality report

All submissions will be added in Turnitin to obtain a similarity report. This report includes a percentage of similarities found in the manuscript based on published works. Thanks to the similiarity report, it's also possible to assess whether the similarities become plagiarism. Although the Turnitin's similarities are not a direct measure of plagiarism, they help to find issues concerning the incorrect use of the academic style and published text that the author passes off as his own.

If the manuscript has a similarity index larger than 25%, the editor-in-chief will ask the author to reduce it.

Article Processing Charges or APCs

There are no article processing charges involved in the submission, review and publication of articles in the journal.
