Abstract

The close relationship between Mexico and the United States of America has generated binational initiatives to mitigate environmental problems between these two states in recent years. Among the most important efforts are signing international agreements such as the Treaty of Peace, the Agreement on Environmental Cooperation of North America and the creation of environmental institutions such as the 2012 and the Border Environmental Cooperation Commission looking to slow environmental degradation and biodiversity affected by three main factors such as overpopulation, invasive species and global warming. The performance of these initiatives between the two countries has given a lot to be desired, particularly when several species are endangered and pollution cases in the two states have been increasing. This research has as main objectives to publicize the existing biological diversity in the northern part of our country as well as the study of the various factors that affect it, such as overpopulation, invasive species, etc. A further objective is to analyze various actions that the governments of the United States and Mexico have undertaken in the form of bilateral agreements to counteract the pollution of the natural environment in the northern region of the country.
