In the present work, the presence and concentrations of organochlorine pesticides (PO) in water and sediments from Laguna de Metztitlán, Hidalgo; with the objective of identifying the use of these compounds as a factor of pressure on biodiversity and a risk potential associated with health, a problem that is accentuated due to the fact that immersed in the reserve there are human settlements and that the main economic activity of the region is agriculture. For its evaluation, 5 composite samples of water were taken in the Metztitlán Lagoon in 2016 and one in the outlet of the Metztitlán River in both dry and rainy seasons, under the guidelines of the NMX-AA-003-1980. They were analyzed individually in triplicate by gas chromatography and mass spectrophotometry. The results corroborate the reported bibliography, in addition to the observed concentrations there is a potential risk to health and biodiversity, which implies the need to monitor the area permanently to assess the presence and concentration of these compounds, as well as their potential impact on the environment and on the population.
