Abstract

Objective. To present the results of bulls with postitis who underwent the Arieta-Román Postioplasty Technique as surgical management of this pathology. Materials and methods. The patients were 25 Bos Indicus bulls, in good body condition and with chronic ulcerative postitis. 2% xylazine was applied at the dose of 0.1 mg / kg body weight as a tranquilizer intramuscularly. Subsequently, for anesthesia, 2% lidocaine hydrochloride was infiltrated at a dose of 1 ml / cm3 of tissue at the base of the foreskin. Washing and detailed evaluation of the lesion was performed. An incision was made in the mucocutaneous limbus, the large-caliber vessels were ligated with points of transfixion with absorbable acid polyglycolic material of 0 caliber. The dissection is performed in 360 ° until all the affected tissue is detached, including the damaged preputial mucosa. . We proceeded to hold the mucosa with nylon thread number 6 to avoid retraction, likewise 3 points were placed cardinally with monophilic nylon suture to expand the mucosa and be able to suture it to the skin, those same attachment points were fixed with a point surgeon and then 4 points will be placed between them. Results. The 25 bulls operated with the described Arieta-Román Postioplasty technique had an average recovery of 90 days postoperatively, two of them had a complication of scar stenosis. Conclusions. It is concluded that the Arieta-Román Postioplasty technique used in this study had favorable results.
