Tampamachoco Lagoon, Veracruz has great economic and ecological importance because it is one of the richest in species of fish, molluscs, crustaceans and bivalves. Bivalves play an important role in the bodies of water, due to their habits can act as biological filtering and biomarkers. Intervalvar cavity and tissues accumulate toxins and pollutants, among the most common are coliform bacteria. For this study, three surveys were conducted during an annual period in six sampling sites in order to determine the bacteriological quality of Isognomon alatus in the Tampachoco Lagoon. For this study used fecal and total coliform bacteria as indicators of pollution, which were determined by the method of multiple fermentation tubes (Most Probable Number MPN) series of five tubes. The highest concentration of total coliforms was de 540 NMP/100g for the month of October 2012 and 460 in January 2012 NMP/100g in the sites Restinga Grande and Punta Rica. While fecal coliform all readings were below the Maximum Allowable Limit of 230 NMP/100g by NOM-242-SSA1-2002. The results showed that the amount of fecal coliforms present in I. alatus and according to the regulations, said there is no pollution in accordance with the provisions.
