Pecan nut production is one of the most important agricultural activities in the south central region of the state of Chihuaha. The presence of diseases in this crop causes losses in its production. A two-stage sampling (conglomerates and completely random design) was carried out for the selection of pecan trees orchards. In this study we present estimates of its economic impact on both, tree loss and production due to the nematode Meloidogyne spp. The nematode can cause not only a decrease in production, but also the death of the pecan tree, which would imply losses of $ 24,000 to $ 36,000, in 10 years, which it would take to replace the tree and bring it to the level of previous production. With regard to production, there are losses, per pecan tree of 21 ± 7 kg per year, in walnut production, that is, at a price of $ 100.00 the losses could amount from $ 1,400 to $ 2,800, per pecan tree per year. These would increase with the passage of time, since the production of diseased pecan trees will decrease until their death.
