Abstract

Crop growth and development, as well as fruit yield and quality, are directly related to the mineral nutrition process. For this, an experiment was carried out at the Faculty of Biological and Agricultural Sciences Campus Tuxpan, with the objective of determining the response in cucumber plants inoculated with biofertilizers and modification of the concentration of nutrients such as potassium (K) and sulfur (S) based on to water analysis, taking the Steiner nutrient solution as a reference. An experimental design with a factorial arrangement was used, factor a with two levels: inoculation and without inoculation; while factor b had three levels: 3, 5 and 7 milliequivalents of K (cations) and 5, 7 and 9 milliequivalents of S (anions) to maintain a balanced nutrient solution. Plant height, stem diameter, average number and weight of fruits, fresh and dry plant weight, and yield per plant were evaluated. The average applications of 5 and 7 milliequivalents of K and S showed significant differences in the variables of number, weight of fruits, fresh and dry weight of the plant, the results obtained in these variables being greater when the plants were not inoculated, the same occurred in yield per plant, the average dose of milliequivalents was 51.9 and 86.4% higher than the low and high dose, respectively. Therefore, insufficient and/or excessive applications of mineral nutrients negatively impact the agronomic response in cucumber plants, this demonstrates the relevance of applying the optimal dose in crops.
