Evaluation of the surgical technique "perineal penopexy" in the preparation of marker bulls for the bovine company

The surgical preparation of guard males is the basis for implementing artificial insemination schemes in a cattle farm under extensive and/or stabled conditions. One of the main
challenges in this type of program is to detect cows in estrus promptly, therefore; the function of a male guard is to facilitate this task, with high efficiency. The correct selection of bulls with the best sexual characteristics (better libido) and good surgical preparation, through an innovative surgical technique where it is possible to return to the physiological process of natural mounting (unlike other techniques where the surgical procedure is irreversible). The objective of this work was to evaluate the surgical technique "perineal penopexy" in the preparation of marker bulls for the bovine enterprise. To evaluate the technique, twelve cattle of the Swiss-zebu breed from 10 to 12 months of age, with an average weight of 280 kg, were operated on. The parameters evaluated were the intervention time, postoperative recovery (infectious processes), and the return to natural breeding, without the presence of an infectious process. These results allow us to conclude that using this technique would be advantageous in the preparation of marker bulls.
