Rhizophora mangle is a tree that grows in the Sontecomapan mangrove swamp. The parasite Coccotrypes rhizophorae is found in this ecosystem, a bark borer that directly affects R. mangle propagules. It was proposed to determine the abundance of larvae, juveniles and adults of C. rhizophorae in predispersal propagules in the rainy, for which the propagules were collected at the site Ramsar 1342 "Mangroves and Wetlands of the Sontecomapan Lagoon". The length and mean diameter of the hypocotyl were measured for each propagule and the abundance of the parasite in larval, juvenile and adult stages was determined. A significant difference was found in the abundance of larvae and adults of C. rhizophorae in pre dispersal propagules in the rainy season, the juvenile phase being absent. No positive trend was found when correlating the abundance of C. rhizophorae in its three development stages with the length and diameter of the propagules. The results suggest that pre dispersal propagules in the rainy season are not more viable to establish and develop by the abundance of C. rhizophorae.
