Today the cicadas in general, have a high potential for ornamental purposes, and specifically the Dioon edule L., is subject to extraction in its natural state for commercialization clandestinely, damaging with it the destruction of its habitat and loss of the species, therefore cataloged by the NOM-059- SEMARNAT-2010 as an endangered species. Its propagation in nurseries for commercial and reforestation purposes is recommended, and coincides with the need to carry out market studies that provide information to link production-commercialization under a sustainable dynamic. The study was carried out in the central and southern part of the state of Veracruz, 30 nurseries of ornamental species were visited and among those that were the cyclo Dioon Edule L., was applied the technique of observation that consisted of identifying people, phenomena, facts, cases, objects, actions, situations, etc., in order to obtain information on the characteristics and aspects of the plants, in addition to the type and cost of commercialization and its SEMARNAT permits; information that allowed us to identify the current and potential market of Dioon edule L.
