Abstract

Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) is an orchid that produces edible aromatic fruits, which positions it as one of the most transcendental agro-biological legacies of Mesoamerican cultures. (Fernández, 2014). The objective of the research was to stimulate the recovery of a Vanilla planifolia Andrews plantation in the Municipality of Tihuatlán, Ver. México, after being subjected to drought conditions. Stressed cuttings that were healthy were selected with viable buds with at least one cm in diameter and 80 cm long; they were disinfected before sowing, the light was regulated and the tutors were established. To motivate recovery, two nutrition systems were used, one conventional and the other organic. The response variables evaluated were: plant length, number of leaves, stem thickness, aerial roots, internodes, chlorophyll concentration and Number of shoots per cutting. The final result was that no statistically significant difference was found between the two nutrition systems, which is why it is concluded that the recovery of the vanilla crop can be caused by both, however it is better to maintain a completely organic management for various benefits to the health, environmental, social and economic.
