Effect of the application of a plant hormone with three treatments on the maturation process of closed walnut crops (Carya illinoinensis)

The nut is a fruit of the pecan tree, with national and international demand. In the region of Delicias, Chihuahua, this crop represents a great economic activity and job creator. Given this importance, a fruit ripening problem was observed. In this way, the objective was to measure the effect of applying three doses of the Ethephon product (vegetable hormone) in the pecan crop (ruezno), assessing the ripening period of the fruit and the decrease in the number of harvert. An experimental design of three orchards was established, evaluating three different treatments, using 7 trees for each treatment, recording the development for a period of 3 weeks, for a period of 4 days between each one. The treatments studied were: 15 ml of Ethephon dissolved in 1000 ml of Water (T1), 2.25 ml of Ethephon in 150 ml of Water (T2) and 1.5 ml of Ethephon in 100 ml of Water (T3) using a spray backpack of 15 000 ml (15 L) of water. The results showed that the T1 treatment showed faster effectiveness than the other treatments. In general, the treatments increased the ripening of the rouge from day 12.
