The investigation was carried out in Tamiahua, Veracruz. With the objective of evaluating water erosion; Data on soil loss were collected each month. The nail and washer technique was used in two sites with different soil management, for this, two areas with three transects each, separated by five meters at each point, were traced. The area with different vegetation cover was considered. Soil loss was estimated in both areas, resulting in a notable difference between them, thus showing that if the soil is maintained with natural or anthropic plant covers, soil loss is avoided, which, when measured continuously, increases that amount, which causes an impoverishment of the soil over time. Protection or containment barriers were placed from the beginning, with V-shaped jar wood, with a dual purpose, the first, to prevent soil loss and to take samples, for analysis in the soil laboratory of the Faculty of Biological and Agricultural Sciences, where both samples had a crumbly (loamy) texture, with an alkaline pH, and also with sufficient organic matter. In this way, with the estimation of the loss of the soil in the places of the nails and with the sediment trapped near them, it is shown that, on steep slopes, in the rainy season, there is a risk of loss of fertile soil if it is not They carry out preventive protection measures such as barriers, increasing, moreover, if the soil is kept bare, without plant cover. The foregoing allows creating awareness to give proper management to soils.
