Papaya (Carica papaya L.) Although it is probably native to southern Mexico or Central America, it is currently grown commercially in Hawaii, Malaya, Ceylon, India, South Africa, Tanganyika, Kenya, the Philippines, Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Panama, Trinidad, Brazil and Mexico. Our country ranks fifth as a producer of papaya worldwide. Its cultivation has been expanding in recent years. Although it is true that there are limitations in certain regions due to diseases of viral etiology, it is also true that specific work is being done to control them, such as pest control. The national and international market is demanding product for all the attributions of the fruit, both in medicine and in industry, giving great importance to organic production.
