The producers of the ejido of San Bartolo have an average age of 40 years, 40% of them do not have any kind of studies. 50% of them participate in the government program "sowing life" receiving a monthly financial aid of $5,000 pesos, but none of the interviewees have technical advice or agricultural insurance. 30% of the producers interviewed prefer to carry out the activities with their family and not spend it on the payment of wages, the number of wages used varies depending on the producer. All the producers use the Dekalb 390 hybrid seed and the characteristics they mention for its use are: yield, grain weight, resistance to drought and high adaptability. The method used for planting is with a spike, using two seeds per blow, at a distance between rows of 80 cm and 40 cm between plants, which gives an approximate density of 62,500 plants per hectare. Synthetic products are used to control weeds and pests. The most incident pest is the fall armyworm. Synthetic fertilizers are used. All producers sell their production to intermediaries at a low selling price.
