Abstract

This is an analysis of the research called “We Are Pure Work. Capitalism, Labor and Sociocultural Change, in Chinconcuac de Juárez, State of Mexico ”. The research proposed a set of objectives to understand, how these subjects had generated survival strategies, what historical processes determined their current situation and how they adopted their culture to the changes, maintaining their territorial unity. The analysis was done with tools of anthropology leading to the interpretation of what the subjects said and of the reality built through the field diaries, thus giving an explanation or creative construction of the possible meanings. It could be concluded that social stratification existed since pre-Hispanic times, however, it underwent serious transformations since the means of production that we could call Asiatic or  tributary was  modified  and  that  it  consolidated  a  regime  of  treasury production.  The  peasant communities were constituted as spaces of a simple stratification where, on the one hand, the indigenous chiefs were found, and on the other, the settlers.
